Hope Dies

I couldn't write
But "no!" said pride
So again I tried--
The secret to the perfect word
Mystery of mysteries
Hidden from my eyes--

I simply couldn't get it
No matter how hard I tried,
My hope had died
And I who once desired to write
Now only try.
